Fréderike Geerdink is a freelance journalist and writer from the Netherlands who has been covering Kurdistan for more than a decade. Between 2012 and 2015, she was the only foreign journalist based in Diyarbakir – until Turkey expelled her because of her work. She has written two books about the Kurds: The Boys Are Dead, and This Fire Never Dies, for which she spent a year with the PKK. Her newsletter Expert Kurdistan attracts a growing audience.
